At Community West Credit Union, we understand the value of higher education and how it helps prepare generations to serve their communities, plus the difficulties students face with the high cost of furthering education.
Community West awards the Vern Hyde Scholarship to four area students each year to encourage our local community to pursue their educational goals: two scholarships to current high school seniors starting college in the fall, one to a current college student, and one to an individual planning to attend or currently attending a trade program.
We’ve made important updates to our scholarship program, bringing you more accessibility and benefits!
- Must be a member by February 1, 2024, and remain in good standing for at least 6 months
- Current college student application is now open to all ages
- Total scholarship amount increased for trade applicants
- New essay requirements detailing volunteerism and leadership
Apply by 11:59 PM ET on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, to be considered for the scholarship
Tax Season is Near
If you will be e-filing and direct depositing a tax refund for the 2023 tax year, you will be required to fill in the ROUTING number for Community West, as well as your ACCOUNT number. The sample below contains the CWCU routing number. For your account number, please review a recent account statement or visit your nearest branch for assistance.
NOTE: Your debit card number is not your CWCU account number and will delay your refund significantly.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is the government agency that collects federal taxes. Scammers pretend to be IRS officials to get you to send them money and other sensitive information.
The IRS will NEVER contact you by phone call or email and will not require a specific payment method. When in doubt, hang up and call the IRS directly at 800.829.1040.
Did you know fraudsters often pose as someone special looking for love on dating websites or apps? Soon, they want to email, call, or message you to get off the platform. They will tug at your heartstrings by saying it’s true love. Then, they start asking for money. Maybe it’s for a plane ticket to visit you, to cover an emergency surgery or car problems. There will always be a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting immediately, but it’s a SCAM!
Keep in mind, if it seems too good to be true – it likely is.
