Community West offers several financial options to help college students fund their education. Our student loans offer potential benefits such as fixed payments and tax-deductible interest. We also offer several support options, making it easier to get answers to questions and help if needed.

Are You Eligible For A Credit Union Student Loan?

Eligibility for these private loans depends on various circumstances. Factors such as your ability to pay the loan, creditworthiness, and cosigner may impact the amount of money you can borrow to cover tuition and what interest rate you can borrow.

Student Choice Tuition Loan

Community West Credit Union is here to help fill your funding gap! We are committed to helping students make college more affordable.

Who can apply?

  • Students enrolled at least half-time
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Must be a credit union member to receive funded loan

Additional Information

  • Option to defer interest and principal while in school
  • Must be a 4-year public or private non-profit school
  • No origination fees
  • Co-borrower release option¹
  • Interest is generally tax deductible²

CUSC Tuition Loan – Variable Rate** 7.50%
CUSC Tuition Loan – Fixed Rate*** 7.50%

*APR = Annual Percentage Rate. Subject to change. APR may be higher depending on your application. Certain loans may have more requirements.
** Variable Rate Option: the repayment term is 20 years if your principal balance at repayment is $40,000 or less, and 25 years if your principal balance at repayment is more than $40,000.
***Fixed Rate Option: the repayment schedule is fixed at 10 years regardless of the amount you borrow. Full repayment begins at the end of the grace period, unless full repayment is selected during enrollment.

Who can apply?

  • US Citizens or permanent residents who have graduated from an approved public or private not-for-profit school
  • College graduates with loans in repayment or grace on one or more outstanding private, federal or institutional student loan³
  • Borrowers that are eligible for CWCU membership

Community West Tuition Loan

Let Community West help you fund your college education. When funding your education, we recommend the following three steps:

  1. Get all the “FREE” money you can (scholarships, school’s financial aid)
  2. Look for “CHEAP” money with lower-interest federal Stafford loans
  3. Fill in the “GAP” with Private Student Loans from CWCU

Who can apply?

  • Students enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • Must meet Community West’s membership requirements*
  • Must be a credit union member to receive funded loan

Additional Information

  • Interest and Principle cannot be deferred
  • Funds are available for college, graduate school or qualifying K-12 programs
  • Fixed payment of $25.00/mo for loans up to $2,500.00
  • Fixed payment of $50.00/mo for loans $2,501.00 – $4,000.00

Contact us today or visit branches in Grandville, Kentwood, Hudsonville, Rockford, Middleville or Comstock Park to complete an application for a credit union student loan. CWCU members can also call client services at 844-348-8960 to speak to a representative.
