    Checking Account Agreement

Venture Checking interest pays 3.00% on balances up to $5,000. To qualify for interest, you must have a monthly direct deposit totaling at least $200 into your Venture Checking account, use your CWCU debit card 10 times/month, active online banking, eStatements, and eNotices.
    **Navigator Checking Account: No dividends are paid on this account. Twelve NSF/Non-Return Fee refunds are available for the life of this account. To qualify for fee reversal, members must have Active Online banking (minimum one log in per month), eStatements, and eNotices.

    Interest Rates and Annual Percentage Yields (APY) and How Interest is Paid

    • The interest rates and Annual Percentage Yields are the current rates that Community West Credit Union (“Credit Union”) expects to pay for the applicable interest period. Rates and terms subject to change at any time without notice. Interest is compounded by the average daily balance method and paid on the first business day of each month. The accrual period begins on the business day that a deposit is made. If you close your account before interest is credited, you will not receive the accrued interest. Interest will only be paid on the primary checking account per membership.

    Fees and Charges

    • This account may be assessed various fees and charges according to the specifications published in the most current Credit Union fee schedule. Accounts that are not used in a one (1) year period may be declared INACTIVE and subject to a fee of $25.00 per month assessed monthly.

    Electronic Payments

    • When you provide your account information (routing number, account number) to a merchant or other payee you are authorizing the Credit Union to convert this payment and information into an Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) transaction.

    Checking Account Agreement

    • By signing below, I authorize the Credit Union to establish this checking account on my/our behalf. The Credit Union is authorized to pay any transactions charged to, checks issued, and ACH transactions presented for payment against the funds in this account. By signing below, it is also agreed to:
    • Withdrawals from this account are allowed by methods approved by the Credit Union.
    • The Credit Union is under no obligation to pay any items that exceed the available balance in this account. If the Credit Union, at its discretion, pays something on your behalf, it is agreed that one or more owners will immediately reimburse the Credit Union the entire amount the account is negative and any fees associated with payment of said transaction. When a check or payment is presented to the Credit Union to process through your account, it will be paid on the date it is presented. All checks presented for payment will be paid unless a stop payment has been arranged prior to the check clearing the account. For negligence, the Credit Union is not liable for any action it takes regarding the payment or nonpayment of a check. You have 60 calendar days from the day your statement is issued to dispute any transaction on your account. We may require you to notify us in writing.
    • This account is subject to all current terms and conditions that have been established by the Credit Union. This account is subject to the Credit Union's current fee schedule. You will be notified of any changes to the terms and conditions of this account, and any changes to the Credit Union's fee schedule. Notifications of these changes will be written and given within 30-days of any change. Notice may be given by U.S. mail, first class, postage prepaid or email (if authorized) to my/our last known address or email address, as reflected in the Credit Union's records. Notice to any one owner shall be notice to all owners. Any individual that signs below is subject to the terms and conditions that are established by the Credit Union.

    Additional Terms and Conditions, Joint Share Account Agreement

    • All signatures below are recognized as individuals that are allowed to conduct business on this account. All owners are equally responsible for any transactions of any business in this account, including (and not limited to) overdrafts. All owners, by signing below, agree with one another and the Credit Union that all funds paid into or removed from this account are owned by all owners jointly, with right of survivorship. Joint owners retain authority over account regardless of beneficiary designations. All owners are equally liable for all transactions on this account. To terminate your membership, you must do so in person at the Credit Union. Termination of membership or closure of any accounts, does not affect transactions, outstanding balances, or pending transactions. You are still responsible for all transactions.
    • I/we authorize the Credit Union to check all account holders' credit history and to obtain credit reports in conjunction with this account application.
    • By signing below, I/We agree to the Credit Union's current fee schedule. Any charges that I/We incur may be deducted from this account if not paid when the service is performed. All charges are subject to change after proper notification.

    What is an Overdraft?

    • An overdraft is what occurs when you do not have sufficient funds in your account to cover the transactions that have come out of your account. An overdraft is the process of drawing your account negative while still allowing the transaction to go through. You may opt-in or out of this service.
      • If you qualify, we have standard overdraft practices that come with your account, as explained below. Please contact us at 616.261.5657 if you have questions about this information.

    What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?

      • We may authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
        1. Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
        2. Automatic bill payments
      • We will not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us to by opting in to Regulation E below.
        1. ATM transactions
        2. Everyday debit card transactions (gas, groceries, etc.)
    We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.

    What fees will I be charged if you pay my overdraft?

    • An overdraft fee is $30 per transaction. There is no limit on the number of fees that can be charged to you in case of multiple overdraft transactions. You may review a copy of the fee schedule provided in your new member packet or online at: (fee schedule link).

    Regulation E Opt-In/Opt-Out

    • Opting in to Regulation E applies to overdrafts to ATM and debit card transactions. To continue receiving these benefits, the federal government requires you to opt-in. If you choose to opt-out, these transactions may not be paid.

      I Opt-Out and do not authorize Community West Credit Union to pay overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions for the account(s) listed below.
    • Member must sign and date agreeing to all of the above.

    Overdraft Protection Opt-In/Opt-Out Election

    To guard against overdrafts and related fees on your account, we offer protection plans such as linking to a savings account, checking account, and – if approved, drawing from a line of credit.     • I Opt-In and authorize the Credit Union to transfer from the below share savings account, provided funds are available for withdrawal, and deposit the funds into my checking account.     • Member must sign and date agreeing to all of the above.

    If you would like to change your overdraft protection election, please notify the Credit Union at the address below.

    Member Acknowledgement & Consent

    • The undersigned Member, having entered into a credit or banking relationship with the Credit Union on , states the following:
      1. Member hereby consents to the use of electronic record retention of all documents pertaining to any transactions at the Credit Union (the "Records").
      2. If Member wishes to withdraw this Consent, it must be done in writing including the date and Member’s signature and delivered to the Credit Union personally, or by first class mail as follows:

    • The Credit Union retains all records electronically. We are notifying you that you do not have to agree to this, but it is a requirement of membership. Records can be defined as and are not limited to: receipts, transaction histories, documents from account openings, stop payments, applications, etc.
    • The undersigned acknowledges having read and understood the above Member's Consent to Electronic Record Retention.

You understand that it is a federal crime to willfully and deliberately provide incomplete or incorrect information on applications made to Federal Credit Unions or State Chartered Credit Unions insured by the NCUA
