Spending time together is important for any relationship but sometimes the cost of going out can add up. While some date nights are worth celebrating (anniversaries, accomplishments, etc.), not every evening together has to break the bank. We’ve put together four frugal date nights to keep your budget and relationship thriving!
The Morning Date:
If you and your partner are morning people, then a morning coffee date may be perfect. Before your day begins, pick your favorite coffee shop to grab a coffee and a delicious scone for breakfast. Breakfast is a great time to get away from busy distractions that can happen in the evening and tends to cost less than going out for dinner. This is an inexpensive date option that can be made a habit if you have difficulty finding time in the evening. Pick a day of the week that works best and make it a plan to have a weekly morning date!
Total Date Cost: $5 – $15
Go Outside:
West Michigan is full of opportunities to get outdoors and stay active! One option available in the winter is cross country skiing at Palmer Park. There are different trails for varying skill levels and it is an awesome chance to stay active as a couple, even in the winter months. Bring your own skis or rent a pair at the clubhouse!
Total Date Cost: $2 – $16
The At-Home Date:
Plan an evening at home that can stick to your budget! This may include a game night, movie night, and/or cooking a fancy meal together. When choosing this type of date, it’s important to plan ahead. This date can be customized based on how much you are able to spend. If you have more room in your budget, pick a take-out restaurant so you can keep your kitchen clean!
Total Date Cost: $0 – $30
Volunteer Together:
Pick one of your favorite local non-profits and plan a day or evening that you can volunteer together. Discuss your options and choose a place that you both are passionate about! Volunteering is entirely free and gives back to the community you live in. Believe us when we say, your community would love to have you! Plus, it’s a great way to get to know your spouse differently.
Total Date Cost: $0
Whether you’re looking for a night in or time away from home, there are plenty of cost-effective ways to achieve your date night. Remember that no matter your budget, it’s important to spend time with your partner doing the things you both enjoy. Hopefully, these options will inspire you to create your very own date night – on a budget!
